Non-Recourse Factoring Companies

"Non-recourse" is one of the most oversold terms in trucking finance. Every provider in the category will tell you their contract is non-recourse, and most of them are technically correct — within a very narrow definition that surprises a lot of carriers the first time they try to use it. Before you pay the 0.25–0.5% non-recourse premium, you should know exactly what you're buying and what you're not.

This comparison is filtered to the 18 companies on our universe that offer either true non-recourse contracts or hybrid structures that let you choose non-recourse per-broker. Apex Capital Corp has the lowest starting rate among non-recourse providers; average across the 18-provider list is 2.00% and the average advance rate is 98% — worth noting because non-recourse providers sometimes hold slightly lower advances to manage their credit exposure.

Here's the one-line version of what non-recourse actually covers: the factor absorbs the loss if your customer becomes financially unable to pay (bankruptcy, insolvency). It does not cover disputes, shortages, damage claims, rejected loads, or a broker simply deciding not to pay until they argue with you. Any of those get charged back to you under every contract we've ever read — non-recourse or not.

Is Non-Recourse Factoring Worth the Premium?

Non-recourse pricing is a risk-transfer contract, not a rate discount. The right question is not "is non-recourse worth it?" — it is "is the premium worth it for my customer mix?". Here's how to answer that for your own operation.

1. What non-recourse actually transfers. Pure bankruptcy and insolvency risk on the broker, and only on invoices the factor has already advanced. If the broker files Chapter 7 tomorrow holding $12,000 of your invoices, under true non-recourse the factor eats that loss. Under a recourse contract, the factor charges that $12,000 back to you — usually by sweeping your reserve first and then ACH-pulling the rest from your bank account. That's the entire risk transfer, and it is worth real money if you're running for brokers you don't know well.

2. What non-recourse does NOT cover. Chargebacks for disputes, rate disagreements, short-pays from claims, rejected loads, missing paperwork, and so-called "slow pay that turns into no pay." Every one of those gets charged back to you regardless of recourse type. Non-recourse only kicks in on verified insolvency — if the broker is fighting the invoice, the factor treats it as a dispute, not a loss.

3. Where the premium is worth it. You run for brokers you didn't know 30 days ago. You run spot-market loads with broker customers you find on DAT. You are a new authority with no repeat broker book. For any of those, the 0.25–0.5% premium is cheap insurance — one broker bankruptcy at $8K will pay the premium back for years.

4. Where it isn't. You run dedicated lanes for a handful of known brokers. You have 12+ months of history with your customer base and a strong credit line on each of them through your factor. At that point you're paying for an insurance product you'll almost never use, and a hybrid contract that lets you run recourse on your core brokers and non-recourse on spot loads is the right structure. 4 of 18 providers on this list offer that hybrid — ask for it by name.

5. Read the credit-line language. Non-recourse only works on invoices the factor approved in advance. If you ran a load for a broker the factor hadn't credit-checked, most non-recourse contracts revert to recourse on that specific invoice. The practical rule: never run a load for a new broker without running it through your factor's credit desk first.

How to Use This Comparison Table

The table below is sortable and filterable — click any column header to re-sort by rate, rating, or advance percentage, and use the filter bar above the table to narrow by recourse type, same-day funding, or fuel card availability.

Of the 18 providers shown on this page, 16 accept new MC authorities in their first 90 days, 11 bundle a fuel card program, 17 fund same-day, and 18 offer non-recourse or hybrid contracts. Use those counts to sanity-check any filter you apply — if a combination of filters drops you to zero results, one of the filters is probably too strict for the realistic market.

Once you've narrowed to three to five providers that fit your operation, use the lead form on this page to request matched quotes from all of them at once. It's faster than phoning each one individually and, more importantly, it gives you real negotiating leverage — every provider knows they're being compared side-by-side, which is when you actually see the bottom of their rate range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best factoring company for non-recourse factoring?expand_more
Based on our 2026 data, **Apex Capital Corp** ranks #1 on this list, with a rating of 4.8/5 from 1200 reviews. Rates start at 1.5%–3.5% with an advance rate of 100%. That said, the "best" factor depends on your customer mix, fleet size, and whether you need same-day funding or a fuel card. Use the comparison table above to filter by what actually matters for your operation.
What's the lowest factoring rate on this list?expand_more
The lowest rate floor we track is **1.5%** per invoice. Keep in mind that most providers quote a rate range — the bottom of the range usually requires fast-paying customers (7 days or less), while slow payers push you toward the top of the range. Always ask for your actual expected rate based on your broker/shipper mix before signing.
How quickly do factoring companies pay?expand_more
17 of 18 providers on this list fund **same-day** — typically 2–6 hours after you submit a clean invoice before their cutoff time. Everyone else runs on a next-business-day ACH schedule. Same-day funding usually costs 0.1–0.25% more but is worth it if you're covering fuel out of pocket between loads.
Is non-recourse factoring worth the extra cost?expand_more
Non-recourse factoring means the factor absorbs the loss if your customer files for bankruptcy before paying. It usually costs 0.25–0.5% more than recourse. It's worth it if you run for brokers you don't have a long relationship with, or if you're hauling for smaller shippers whose credit you can't easily verify. 14 of 18 providers on this list offer true non-recourse; 4 offer both options.
Do factoring companies accept new MC authorities?expand_more
16 of 18 providers on this list accept carriers with less than 90 days of authority. The trade-off is usually a slightly higher rate and tighter credit approval on your broker customers. If you're brand new, prioritize providers with month-to-month contracts so you can switch once you've built volume.
What's the highest advance rate I can get?expand_more
The highest advance rate we track on this list is **100%** — meaning you receive the full invoice amount up front with zero reserve held back. 12 providers offer 100% advances. Keep in mind that higher advance rates usually correlate with slightly higher percentage fees. Most owner-operators prefer 100% advance (no reserve) even at a 0.1–0.2% premium.
